PLATFORM PRESENTATION CATEGORIES

Three broad categories with objectives and subcategories:

Category A – Drug Category or Disease/Symptom Specific Presentations

Objectives - Pharmacists will be able to:

  1. Define the characteristics of the drug category or disease/symptom,
  2. Describe clinical management programs developed to improve the use of that drug category or treatment of that disease or symptom,
  3. Discuss options and alternatives for practice in that subcategory,
  4. Report outcomes following the use of products from that subcategory or those used in the treatment of that disease or symptom, and
  5. Outline appropriate alternatives to the existing programs in their practice setting.

Subcategories – Drug or Disease/Symptom

  • A1. Infectious Disease - Anti-infective Agents
  • A2. Oncology - Anti-neoplastic & Non-anti-neoplastic Agents
  • A3. Cardiovascular Care - Cardiovascular Agents
  • A4. Gastrointestinal Care – Gastrointestinal or Nutritional Agents and Devices
  • A5. Neuro-Psych or Pain Management Agents
  • A6. Diabetes Care – Diabetes Agents and Devices

Category B - Practice Setting, Patient Demographic or Monitoring Procedure Specific Programs

Objectives - Pharmacists will be able to:

  1. Define the characteristics of that practice in or with that subcategory,
  2. Describe clinical management programs developed to improve outcomes in that subcategory,
  3. Report options and alternatives for practice in that subcategory,
  4. Outline outcomes following interventions in that practice setting, patient demographic specific or using monitoring procedure from that subcategory, and
  5. Recommend appropriate alternatives to the existing patient care programs in their practice setting.

Subcategories – Practice Setting, Patient Demographic or Monitoring Procedure

  • B1. Ambulatory Care
  • B2. Community Practice
  • B3. Critical Care
  • B4. General Clinical Practice
  • B5. Long-Term, Geriatric or Hospice Care
  • B6. Pediatric or Gender Specific Care
  • B7. Pharmacokinetics

Category C – Pharmaceconomics Administrative, Financial & Technology Management

Objectives - Pharmacists will be able to:

  1. Define the characteristics of that area of management as it relates to the practice of pharmacy,
  2. Describe programs developed to improve pharmacy practice through the use of new management techniques in that subcategory,
  3. Discuss options and alternatives for change in that subcategory,
  4. Report outcomes following the implementation of improved management in that subcategory, and
  5. Outline appropriate alternatives to the existing programs in their practice setting.

Subcategories Pharmacoeconomics, Administration or Financial or Technology Management

  • C1. Pharmacoeconomics, Administration or Financial Management
  • C2. Technology Management (Computer/Information Systems & Drug Distribution / Automation)
